Handpainted plate: Eagle and snake

Regular price $44.99 Sale

Honoring the symbolism of Mexico, Patrick painted the Mexican coat of arms symbol of the eagle with a snake on top of a cactus...the setting is at nightfall in the desert.

The legend goes that the Aztecs were guided by a prophecy to establish their capital city where they saw this symbolic scene. They interpreted the eagle, cactus, and snake as representing their own identity and history.

The eagle symbolizes strength, courage, and freedom; the cactus represents the land and its harsh conditions; and the snake represents a symbol of the ancient god Huitzilopochtli.

This plate can be used as an art piece to be hung in a collection, or ot eat off of or serve food.

Arizona artist (and my hubby) Patrick Murillo painted this and it was fired in the kiln.

Measures 10-1/2" across. One-of-a-kind - painted with mucho love and detail!
